Lampwork bead withdrawal ...

This week, I managed to clear out a cupboard.  Yes, a whole one.  Anyone who knows me will appreciate what an achievement this actually is.  Even better, it was the cupboard with all my craft stuff (excluding jewellery making paraphernalia) in it, so I can now actually get to all my bits and pieces without causing an avalanche!  Of course, this is only one cupboard down and umpteen to go, but it's a start ...

I don't seem to have achieved much I can show in the last couple of weeks - another Christmas pressie and a couple of special Christmas cards - but I did make myself a sparkly bracelet and a dragon's egg ring, along with a bracelet commissioned by my lovely stepmum.  Oh yes, and a winter-themed necklace - Frost - which will be appearing on the necklaces page shortly.  I'm still on a lampwork-buying ban, so it was time to get out some of my precious lampwork stash and have a play.  There are extra snowball beads (made by the talented Trudi Doherty of www.glitteringprize.co.uk), so I shall probably rustle up a pair of earrings with them.  I'm still desperate to have a go at lampworking (making glass beads in a flame) myself, but I've been absolutely forbidden by my otherwise remarkably long-suffering hubby.  Given that I managed to remove the tip of my own thumb whilst merely cutting a lettuce, I can't really blame him ...

Lampwork buying...ban? What is such a thing?

I've noticed quite a few bead shows have glass suppliers that offer lampwork taster session. Surely your husband couldn't object to that...you be under proper supervision *G*

Hehe - I very nearly went to Flame Off this year, Hazel - it's not that far from me, but I was a bit worried it might kick start an addiction I can't afford, so I managed to resist! It gets harder every year, though.

I'm working up to the idea of a torch for silversmithing, though, although DH is pretty resistant to that, too. He does have a point, I'm not exactly the least accident-prone person in the world ... :O
